My name is Victor, a Brazilian/Portuguese PhD student. I was born in Curitiba, a beautiful city in southern Brazil. It is a relatively large city, with around two million habitants, located a few hundred kilometers from the coast.
As a child, I studied at several schools, which taught me valuable lessons about adapting to new environments and connecting with people from different backgrounds. While each school contributed to my growth, my high school years were special. That’s where I met most of my closest friends, and together we created the school’s first student union, organizing events and working to better understand the needs of our school at the time.
In 2018, I began studying Electronic Engineering at the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR). From the start, my objective was to perform a double degree, which eventually became possible thanks to a partnership between UTFPR and TELECOM Nancy. I moved to France in 2022 and spent two years there, earning my engineering diploma and, in parallel, completing my degree in Brazil. One dream remained for my academic career: pursuing a PhD. Since the beginning of 2025, I have been working on my thesis at the University of Lorraine, within the Loreley Team at INRIA Nancy. My research focuses on improving the security and performance of IPFS’s Distributed Hash Table (DHT).
I feel extremely lucky for the experiences I’ve had so far. Each stage of my life has shaped me in different ways. My early schooling taught me values and the importance of friendship. UTFPR gave me the foundations for learning and self-development. TELECOM Nancy made me independent, living far from my family and home country. During my PhD, I’ve been developing clarity in communication, perseverance, and organization to develop a three-year project.
